The
Metaphysics
of Light, Wisdom, & Sound |
|
|
Clive was commisioned by Light Wisdom And Sound ( A New York City nightclub) to paint a 20x10 foot mural for permanent display. Lost Souls had the oppurtunity to watch the painting go though many transformation's. Clive was assisted by 3 people to complete the painting in just 2 days. This is the largest piece he has ever attempted, excluding the backdrops he had done in his theatre days. Latex house paint was used in an array of colours. |
The painting itself is titled The Metaphysics Of Light, Wisdom, And Sound. The painting itself represents light, wisdom and sound. The shaman at the center ultimately represents everything: good, evil, man, woman, and complete wisdom. Coming from the figure's eyes and nose is the menstruum, which Clive put in as a reference from Weaveworld. On the left side of the painting sound is represented, on the right light is represented. Attached to both light and sound is an egg with a fetus. The eyes of the shaman represent sperm. The pyramids on the landscape stand for some sort of civilization. Putting it all together the figure has left civilization to give birth to light, wisdom and sound. |

Clive has his own unique style of painting. He uses quick, carefree strokes and is unafraid to change. The first day of creating the painting, the Shaman was squating on a skull. The image changed in a matter of a minute and Clive transformed it to an egg! |
It truly was a incredible experience for Lost Souls to witness Clive in action. Unfortunately the nightclub has closed down so The Metaphysics of Light, Wisdom, And Sound needs a new home before anyone can view this spectacular piece again. Lost Souls hopes that you enjoyed the photographs and article of this incredible piece. |
